Rotherham

Rotherham (rŏth`ərəm), city (1991 pop. 122,374) and metropolitan district, N England, at the confluence of the Don and Rother rivers. Situated in a principal coal district, the city manufactures steel, brass, clothing, electrical equipment, chemicals, glass, and beer. On an old bridge over the Don is a 15th-century chapel. Technical and art colleges are located in Rotherham.

Rotherham 

a city (county district) in England, in the metropolitan county of South Yorkshire. Situated at the influx of the Rother River into the Don River near the city of Sheffield. Population, 249,400 (1976). Rotherham is a railroad junction. The city has a metallurgical industry producing alloyed steel and rolled metal, as well as aircraft and railroad car construction industries. It also has sawmills, ceramic plants, glassworks, and breweries.
