Rowan, John (1773–1843) U.S. representative/senator; born in York, Pa. A lawyer, he represented Kentucky in Congress (Rep., 1807–09), returning to the state legislature (1813–24), and then going to the Senate (1825–39) where he chaired the Judiciary Committee.
