Rudakov, Aleksandr Petrovich 

Born Aug. 29 (Sept. 11), 1910, in the city of Pologi, in what is now Zaporozh’e Oblast; died July 10, 1966, in Moscow. Soviet party and government figure. Member of the CPSU from 1931.

Son of a peasant, Rudakov worked as a miner in the Donets Basin from 1927. In 1937 he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Mines. In 1936 he began working in the Komsomol and later in the apparatus of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Ukraine (Bolshevik). In 1941 and 1942 he carried out assignments of the Military Council of the Southwestern Front. From 1942 to 1944 he served in the apparatus of the Central Committee of the ACP(B) and later returned to work again in the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Ukraine (Bolshevik).

Rudakov was a department chief of the Central Committee of the CPSU from 1954 and secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU from 1962. He was a delegate to the Twentieth through Twenty-third Congresses of the CPSU. In 1956 he became a candidate member, and in November 1962 a member of the Central Committee of the CPSU. He was a deputy to the sixth and the seventh convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.

Rudakov was awarded two Orders of Lenin, two other orders, and various medals. He is buried on Red Square at the Kremlin Wall.
