an industrial and shipping area of the city of Duisburg, Federal Republic of Germany. Port on the Rhine River at the confluence of the Rhine and Ruhr rivers and the Rhine-Herne-Canal. Shipping point for coal from the Ruhr.

Selver was born in 1901 in Ruhrort, Germany, and immigrated to New York City in the fall of 1938.
The high survival rate was due to the internal organization of the Heckalutz which kept in touch with the different groups of haverim by couriers who managed to go back and forth to Amsterdam, seeing the groups employed in Dortmund, Bielefeld, Ruhrort, Oberhausen, and Essen.
