Ruml, Beardsley (1894–1960) public official; born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. At R. H. Macy and Co. (1934–49, chairman 1945–49) and the New York's Federal Reserve Bank (director 1937–47, chairman 1941–47), and as a New Deal adviser, Ruml was an "idea man." He devised the federal tax withholding system (1943) and was instrumental in establishing the International Monetary Fund (1944). How to thank TFD for its existence?
