Rummo, Paul
Born July 1 (14), 1909, in Harju District, Kehtna Volost, now Rapla Raion, Estonian SSR. Soviet Estonian writer. Honored Art Worker of the Estonian SSR (1952). Rummo graduated from the Tallinn Pedagogical School in 1930. He has been publishing since 1929. He wrote the play The Brown Plague (1943) and several collections of poetry, including The Fighting Homeland (1946), The Rolling Stone (1955), Prologue and Narrative Poems (1961), and The Severed Thread (1969). His books As a Tourist in the Seventh Great Power (1959) and How Poetry Was Created (1969) contain critical and publicists articles. Rummo was a deputy to the first convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the Estonian SSR. He has been awarded two orders and various medals. WORKSKodumaal rännates.
