Rungis
a city in France, in the department of Val-de-Marne; suburb of Paris. Population, 8,000 (1968). In 1969 the Greater Paris central wholesale food market (formerly Les Halles) was opened in Rungis. The commercial complex covers an area of 625 hectares and has its own production shops, warehouses, and railroad stations. The market itself covers an area of 204 hectares.
