a narrow ramp extending from the stage into the audience in a theatre, nightclub, etc., esp as used by models in a fashion show catwalk [′kat‚wȯk] (engineering) A narrow, raised platform or pathway used for passage to otherwise inaccessible areas, such as a raised walkway on a ship permitting fore and aft passage when the main deck is awash, a walkway on the roof of a freight car, or a walkway along a vehicular bridge. catwalk A narrow fixed walkway providing access to an otherwise inaccessible area or to lighting units, light bridges, etc.; used above an excavation, around a high building, above the ceiling of an auditorium or theater, or around a stagehouse.
