Rupp, Adolph

Rupp, Adolph (Frederick) (1901–77) basketball coach; born in Halstead, Kans. During his 42-year career at the University of Kentucky (1930–72), he coached his teams to a record 874 victories, 27 Southeast Conference titles, and four National Collegiate Athletic Association championships. He also coached the U.S. team to a gold medal in the 1948 Olympic games.
