In central KS, south of Hays; established Feb 26, 1867 from unorganized territory. Name Origin: For Capt. Alexander Rush (?-1864), killed in action at Jenkins Ferry, AR.

In east-central IN, southeast of Indianapolis; established Dec 31, 1821 from Franklin County. Name Origin: For Benjamin Rush (1745-1813), surgeon general in the Continental Army and a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
