Russian Telegraph Agency RTA

    0.01 sec.
Russian Telegraph Agency (RTA)

the first press information agency in Russia. Established in 1866 in St. Petersburg, it existed, with interruptions, until 1878. The RTA had branches and offices in many of the country’s cities and correspondents in major centers abroad. It published Telegraph Bulletins. The agency originally confined itself to disseminating foreign political and commercial information within Russia, but it soon began gathering information within the country as well for dissemination abroad, using Wolff’s Telegraph Bureau.
