Rembrandt, Rubens, Van Dyck, Hobbema and Ruysdael were among the great men of the Dutch School represented at the exhibition at Huddersfield Art Gallery.
1628-1682) was born in Haarlem, the son of Isaac de Goyer van Ruysdael, a frame-maker and minor journeyman painter.
In the works of the great seventeenth-century masters, the windmill frequently appears on the canvas, as in the pictures of Averkamp, Ruysdael, Hobbema, and many others, as well as in the well-known etchings of Rembrandt.
