Icknield Street (ĭk`nēld), name for a prehistoric road in England, extending SW from the Wash, along the line of the Chiltern Hills and Berkshire Downs, to Salisbury Plain.

This suggest that the original name was exactly the same as that of Streetly in Walsall and that both arise from the Roman road called Icknield Street by some and Ryknild Street by others.
While much of the original road has disappeared, sections of it - in parts also called Ryknild Street - still survive across the country, including in the heart of the Midlands.
The Midlands Co-op store at Ryknild Street, Boley Park, Lichfield, has offered its car park for Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust to use for the vital service.
