Ryl’skii, Iakov Anufrievich 

Born Oct. 25, 1928, in the village of Aleksandrovka in Verkhubinka Raion, Vostochnyi Kazakhstan Oblast. Soviet sabreur. Honored Master of Sports (1961). Coach.

In the 1950’s and 1960’s, Ryl’skii was one of the world’s best fencers. He was individual world champion in 1958, 1961, and 1963. He was a member of the world championship team in 1965 and a member of the Olympic championship team in 1964. Ryl’skii was individual champion of the USSR five times in the period 1954–58.
