Süring, Reinhard 

Born May 15, 1866, in Hamburg; died Dec. 29, 1950, in Potsdam. German meteorologist. Director of the Potsdam Observatory (1928–32 and 1945–50).

Süring investigated water content of clouds and solar radiation. He made 14 flights in free balloons for research on the atmosphere (in 1901 he and A. Serson reached an altitude of 10,800 m). He provided an empirical formula for changes in water vapor pressure at different heights.
