These panels connect EDT PCI cards to standard cables through 68-pin high-density SCSI connectors, while the transition from the SCSI connector to twinax is made inside the panels, allowing the connector to interface E-3/T-3, E-1/T-1 or DATA and CLOCK channels.
By utilizing its external SCSI connection, the Stirling X524 can be enhanced through the addition of up to five 3 TB RAID storage expansion boxes per SCSI connector to create a scalable NAS server.
Figure 2 shows a comparison between a SATA connector, parallel SCSI connector and the proposed SAS connector.
