SNIA

(Storage Networking Industry Association, San Francisco, CA, www.snia.org) An organization devoted to the advancement of mission critical storage systems. Founded in 1997, its goal is to determine the standards that must be developed to allow hosts and storage systems to interact via common protocols. SNIA was spearheaded by Strategic Research Corporation's Michael Peterson.

In mid-1999, to accelerate the development, evolution, and acceptance of multi-vendor storage network standards, the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) formed the Technical Council to guide and oversee SNIA technical efforts and standards development.
SAN FRANCISCO -- At the Storage Networking Industry Association's (SNIA) recent Winter Symposium, the SNIA IP Storage Forum (IPSF) introduced its newly elected leadership team and outlined their plans to further drive the adoption of IP-based Storage Area Network (SAN) solutions through global marketing initiatives and end-user education during 2007.
The SNIA is also committed to delivering standards, education, and services that will propel open storage networking solutions into the broader market.
