Sachs, Paul Joseph

Sachs, Paul Joseph (1878–1965) art connoisseur/educator; born in New York City. He studied at Harvard (B.A. 1900), and joined the family investment firm, Goldman, Sachs and Company (1904–14). He abandoned banking and joined the Fogg Art Museum, an adjunct of Harvard, as an assistant director (1915–44). He taught at Harvard (1917–48) and was instrumental in building the new Fogg Museum (1928). He became known for his seminars on museum administration and for his publications on art.
