an urban-type settlement in Alagir Raion, Severnaia Osetiia ASSR, on the north slope of the Greater Caucasus, in the gorge of the Sadonka River (a tributary of the Ardon River). Elevation, 1,250 m. Located 3.5 km from the Ossetian Military Road and 40 km from the Alagir railroad station. Lead and zinc ores are mined (since the 1840’s) and shipped to the Mizur Concentrating Mill of the Sadon Lead and Zinc Combine and then to the Elektrotsink plant in Ordzhonikidze.
