Chlorophytum
a genus of perennial herbs of the family Liliaceae. The stem is short, and the roots are thickened and sometimes tuberous. The lily-shaped, lanceolate, or oval leaves are in a radical rosette. The small, white, inconspicuous flowers are three-parted and in racemes. The fruit is a trihedral capsule. In some species the flower stalk bears the vegetative buds from which daughter plants develop. One such species is the hanging houseplant C. comosum, some forms of which have white stripes on the leaves. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
