(ordnance)
A device designed to fit the mechanism of a fuse in order to prevent accidental arming or functioning of the fuse and to ensure transport safety; the device is removed just before employment of the fuse.

IN THE PICTURE: Actress Patsy Kensit's rosebud pout may be famous - but it does not seem to be quite as much in evidence in the photograph on the left, taken a few a few years ago, as it does in the more recent one GUESSING: Liz Hurley's fans may have noticed a change in their pin-up - as she gets too thin to fill that famous Versace safetypin number, let alone spill out of it, her lips seem bigger.
