Saguenay River

River, southern central Quebec, Canada. It drains Lac-Saint-Jean into the Saint Lawrence River at Tadoussac, northeast of Quebec city. Flowing east, it descends about 300 ft (90 m) in a turbulent stream in the first third of its 105-mi (169-km) course. Its fall is a source of hydroelectric power; its shores are in many places cliffs 1,000–1,800 ft (300–550 m) high. Noted for its scenery, it is a recreational area.
