Saint Moritz

Saint Moritz (sānt môr`ĭts, mərĭts`), Ger. Sankt Moritz, town (1990 est. pop. 5,300), Grisons canton, SE Switzerland, in the Upper Engadine, on the Lake of St. Moritz. One of the largest winter sports centers in the world, it is also a famous year-round resort. It is surrounded by magnificent peaks and has long-frequented mineral springs. The Olympic winter games were held there in 1928 and in 1948. The town is along a major international highway and has an airport nearby.
