Saint-Dizier

Saint-Dizier (săN-dēzyā`), town (1990 pop. 35,558), Haute-Marne dept., NE France, on the Marne River. It is a trading and transportation center; its manufactures include machinery, musical instruments, and metals. Saint-Dizier has many structures dating from the 13th to the 18th cent. There is also a museum with Roman, Carthaginian, and early Christian artifacts.

It follows an incident last month when workers outraged at planned job cuts at the Miko ice-cream factory in Saint-Dizier locked up their British manager, Prakash Patel.
Armed cops stormed the Cogesal-Miko plant at Saint-Dizier to free him.
However, the 31-year-old should not count on any favours from his team-mate Pena who was in confident mood at the finish in Saint-Dizier.
