Sakharova, Praskov’ia Fedorovna 

Born 1890, in the village of Taidakovo, now in Zaokskii Raion, Tula Oblast; died Dec. 2, 1969, in Moscow. Soviet party figure. Member of the CPSU from 1912.

The daughter of a worker, Sakharova began working as a seamstress in 1902. She joined the revolutionary movement in 1910 and was involved in party work in Moscow, Tashkent, and Saratov. She was often arrested and exiled. After the February Revolution of 1917, she worked in the Moscow Garment Workers’ Trade Union. She took part in the October Revolution of 1917 in Moscow.

Sakharova was secretary and chairman of the Moscow Province Garment Workers’ Union from 1917 to 1923. A member of the Central Control Commission of the ACP(B) from 1923 to 1934, she was a candidate member of the commission’s presidium in 1 926 and 1927 and from 1930 to 1934. From 1934 to 1939 she was a member of the Soviet Control Committee. Beginning in 1940, she held managerial posts. In 1942 she became a personal pensioner. Sakharova was awarded the Order of Lenin and two other orders.
