Salair

a city in Kemerovo Oblast, RSFSR, under jurisdiction of the Gur’evsk Soviet. Located on the eastern slope of Sa-lair Ridge, 12 km from Gur’evsk.

Salair is the center of a complex-metal ore deposit that has been worked since the 1780’s. The city has an ore-dressing factory. Zinc concentrates are processed at a plant in Belovo, and lead concentrates are shipped to plants in Eastern Kazakhstan. Barite concentrates are produced.
