Variations in the salinity of ocean waters depend on the addition or removal of fresh water through evaporation and precipitation and, in polar regions, on the freezing and melting of ice.
Salt water pools, which have approximately one-tenth the salinity of ocean water, are gentler on eyes, skin and hair, are environmentally friendlier, and require less maintenance than traditional chlorine-based pools.
