The study of the structure and mechanism of emplacement of salt domes. Also known as halokinesis.

The pattern, well developed in the Arabian Peninsula, is related to deep-seated salt tectonics associated with basement faulting.
Progressive sections mark the progress and conclusions of the project: coordinating marine survey data sources; seismic reflection data, associated technologies, and the development of the project methodology; the integration and visualization of spatial data sets; salt tectonics in the southern North Sea; an atlas of the paleolandscapes of the southern North Sea; an assessment of selected borehole sediments; and heritage management and the North Sea Paleolandscapes Project.
The pattern, well developed in the Arabian Peninsula, is related to deep-seated salt tectonics possibly associated with basement faulting.
