SAM
(1) See sequential access method and software asset management.

(2) (Security Accounts Manager) The part of Windows that manages the database of usernames, passwords and permissions. A SAM resides in each server as well as in each domain controller. See PDC and trust relationship.

(3) (Symantec AntiVirus for Macintosh) An earlier Macintosh antivirus program from Symantec Corporation, Cupertino, CA. It evolved into Norton AntiVirus for Mac.
