Samar, Akim Dmitrievich

Born April 1916 in the nomad camp of Kondon, in what is now Khabarovsk Krai; died in early 1943 near Stalingrad. Soviet Nanai writer.

Samar graduated in 1941 from the pedagogical school of the Leningrad Institute of the Peoples of the North. He fought in the Great Patriotic War (1941–45). He wrote the verse collections The Song of a Nanai (1938) and Verses (1940) and the short story A Poor Man’s Son (1941). Samar’s works glorify the new life of the peoples of the Soviet Far East.
