Samoilova, Tat’iana Evgen’evna 

Born May 4, 1934, in Leningrad. Soviet film actress. Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR (1963).

Samoilova graduated from the Shchukin Theatrical School in 1958. She began acting in motion pictures in 1956. She became famous for her role as Veronika in the film The Cranes Are Flying (1957), for which she was awarded a prize at the 11th International Film Festival in Cannes. Another significant achievement was her portrayal of Anna Karenina in the film of the same name (1968).

Samoilova’s other roles have included Tania in The Letter That Was Never Sent (1960), the Soviet Intelligence Agent in Alba Regia (1961, a Hungarian film), Natasha in Léon Garros Seeks a Friend (1961, a Soviet-French film), Sonia in They Went to the East (1964, an Italian-Soviet film), Nastiura Shevtsova in No Return, and Masha in Ocean. Samoilova has been awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor.
