San Pedro de Macorís (sän pā`thrō thā mäkōrēs`), city (1993 pop. 123,987), SE Dominican Republic, on the Caribbean Sea at the mouth of the Higuamo River. It is the nation's leading sugar port. Textiles and alcohol are produced there.

A port on the Caribbean Sea, it exports sugar, tobacco products, and leather. The city produces sugar and tobacco products and has a large chemical fertilizer plant.
