Saneev, Viktor Danilovich 

Born Oct. 3, 1945, in Sukhumi. Soviet track-and-field athlete and instructor. Honored Master of Sports (1968).

Saneev graduated from the Georgian Institute of Subtropical Farming in 1969 and the Georgian Institute of Physical Education in 1975. He was Olympic champion in the triple jump in 1968, 1972, and 1976. He was champion in the same category at the European track and field championships in 1969 and 1974 and at the European indoor track-and-field championships in 1970, 1971, 1972, and 1975. He was also triple-jump champion of the USSR seven times during the period 1968–75. Between 1968 and 1972 he broke the world’s record three times (17 m 47 cm in 1972). Saneev has been awarded the Order of Lenin and the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
