Sangli (säng`glē`), town (1991 pop. 363,751), Maharashtra state, SE India, on the Krishna River. It is an agricultural market and a district administrative center. Oilseed and turmeric are particularly important.

One essential part of Hutton's and Evans' itinerary was a visit to the Sangli District of Maharashtra in western India where BFID has formed a strong link with the Verala Development Society.
