A sewer which is restricted to carrying sewage and to which storm and surface waters are not admitted.

sanitary sewer
A sewer which carries sewage (liquid or waterborne waste from plumbing fixtures) and to which storm and surface water, street runoff, and groundwater are not admitted intentionally.

Over the winter, approximately 30,000 cubic yards of excess soil were removed from the site--about 400 dump truck loads--and water and sanitary sewer piping were brought onto the site.
Project components include including treatment plants, wastewater collection system, and pump stations, construction of a new sanitary sewer system, coastal interceptor sewers, combined sewers, wastewater collection and pipelines, and two secondary treatment plants.
