Coincidentally, perhaps its publication commemorates the birth of Saorstat Eireann [Irish Free State], the first meeting of Dail Eireann, January 1921 and the Anglo-Irish Treaty signed on December 6th, 1921.
The Cabinet heard that the 1935 Act stated: "It shall not be lawful for any person to sell, expose, offer, advertise or keep for sale or to attempt to import into Saorstat Eireann for sale, any contraceptive.
