Location:Sapelo ferry and visitor center are located in Meridian, 8 miles northeast of Darien, off GA 99.
Facilities:Pioneer campground, 13 lodge rooms (Reynolds Mansion), visitor center (in Meridian).
Activities:Guided tours (by reservation), marsh and beach walks.
Special Features:Guided tours of Sapelo Island highlight the African-American community of Hog Hammock, University of Georgia Marine Institute, Reynolds Mansion, and a restored lighthouse built in 1820. Historic Reynolds Mansion is historical estate that can be used for conferences, retreats, and other functions (groups only, from 16-29 people). A campground on the island is also available only for groups (15-25 people).
