Sapori, Armando

Born July 11, 1892, in Siena. Italian historian. Member of the National Academy of Lincei; honorary doctorates from the Sorbonne and the University of Poitiers.

Sapori is the author of richly documented monographs devoted mainly to the socioeconomic history of Italy, for example, the history of commerce, the banks, the merchant class, and various companies. He has also written on the Renaissance—which he believes began in the 12th century—and on the economic history of Italy from the 17th to the 20th century.
