Saqqara 

a village in the Arab Republic of Egypt, in Lower Egypt. Population, 12,700 (1966). A necropolis of ancient Memphis is located near Saqqara. The most important of the funeral complexes of the pharaohs of the first through sixth dynasties is the 60-m high stepped pyramid of the pharaoh Zoser, built by the architect Imhotep in the 28th century B.C. The remains of the structures surrounding the pyramid are also important.

Look no further than the tomb of Niankhkhnum and Khnumhotep in Saqqara, Egypt.
A team led by Alain Zivie of the French Archaeological Mission of the Bubasteion in Saqqara, Egypt, retrieved the lion's remains in the tomb of Maia, wet nurse to King Tutankhamen.
Archaeologists have uncovered evidence at Saqqara, Egypt, that two noblemen who lived about 4,000 years ago had their own underground tombs built secretly within a dead pharaoh's sacred burial area so that they could enjoy a royal afterlife and become gods after death like the pharaohs.
