Sardi, (Melchiorre Pio Vincenzo) Vincent (1885–1969) restaurateur; born in San Marzano Oliveto, Italy. He was a writer in London and (after 1907) in New York City. He opened a restaurant in New York's theater district (1921), and Sardi's became a city landmark, home to an extended family of theater people and a favorite celebrity-watching spot for others. He retired in 1947. How to thank TFD for its existence? Tell a friend about us, add a link to this page, add the site to iGoogle, or visit webmaster's page for free fun content. |
