Sart-Kalmyks
a group of western Mongols (Olety) who migrated to Middle Asia from China after the suppression of the Dungan Rebellion of 1862–77. Since 1884, the Sart-Kalmyks have been settled in the region around what is now the city of Przheval’sk in Issyk-Kul’ Oblast, Kirghiz SSR. They adopted the Kirghiz language and have gradually become intermixed with the Kirghiz people. Some of the Sart-Kalmyks are Muslims. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
