Sarymsakova, Liutfi 

Born Apr. 26, 1896, in the kishlak (hamlet) of Ak-Er, in what is now Fergana Oblast. Soviet Uzbek actress. People’s Artist of the USSR (1967). Member of the CPSU since 1944.

Sarymsakova made her professional stage debut in Kokand in 1925. She subsequently worked in theaters in Andizhan and Fergana. From 1934 to 1939 she performed with the Uzbek Music Theater, and from 1941 to 1973, with the Mukimi Uzbek Music Theater in Tashkent. Sarymsakova created profound portrayals of mothers fighting for the happiness of their children, for example, Kumush-khola, Aisara, Kim’e, and the Old Mother in Iashen’s Two Communists, Gul’sara, Nurkhon and Revshan and Zulkhumor. Other outstanding roles included Shi-rin and Iasuman in Khurshid’s Farkhad and Shirin and Maisara in Maisara’s Pranks by Khamza. Beginning in 1931, Sarymsakova appeared in films, including The Downfall of the Emirate (1955), The Sons Go Further (1959), and You Are Not an Orphan (1962).

Sarymsakova was a deputy to the fifth and sixth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the Uzbek SSR. She has been awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and various medals.
