Satavado
the name of a feudal holding in Georgia in the 15th through 18th centuries. Important feudal lords who held satavados were called tavads. Almost independent of central authority, tavads were obliged to take part in the military campaigns of the Georgian kings. The system of satavado holdings was liquidated early in the 19th century, after the unification of Georgia with the Russian Empire. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
