Advanced Polymer Alloys, Wilmington, DE, a division of Ferro, announced that its Alcryn melt-processible rubber has been selected for use in an automotive satellite antenna system offered in a wide range of General Motors vehicles. Costs are around $1,500 for the satellite antenna, receiver and software, $700 for the annual subscription (it can also be bought on a six-month seasonal basis), a $79 activation fee, plus installation by the dealer. Row 44 in Malibu has developed a low-profile satellite antenna that weighs a fraction of Connexion's and is only about three inches tall, reducing drag and minimizing fuel costs. |
