Saugus

Saugus (sô`gəs), town (1990 pop. 25,549), Essex co., NE Mass., a suburb of Boston on the Saugus River near the Atlantic Ocean; settled before 1637, set off from Lynn and inc. 1815. Mainly residential, the town has some light manufacturing. The Saugus ironworks (1646–c.1670; restored 1954) were the first successful enterprise of the kind in the colonies.

Rollo steps down from coaching Saugus soccer After leading Saugus to its first Southern Section girls' soccer title, Lisa Rollo has resigned after a five-year stint coaching the Centurions to pursue other professional opportunities in San Diego.
With first place in the Foothill League on the line Tuesday, Saugus recorded its third victory over the host Cowboys, relying on a goal and an assist from Jamie Molacek and another strong defensive effort to prevail 3-1.
