Savai'i (sävī`ē), volcanic island (1981 pop. 43,150), Samoa Samoa, formerly Western Samoa, officially Independent State of Samoa, constitutional monarchy (2005 est. pop. 177,000), South Pacific, comprising the western half of the Samoa island chain. .....
