Savitskaia, Svetlana Evgen’evna
Born Aug. 8, 1948, in Moscow. Soviet athlete, pilot, and engineer. Honored Master of Sports (1970). Member of the CPSU since 1975. Daughter of E. Ia. Savitskii. Savitskaia graduated from the Sergo Ordzhonikidze Moscow Institute of Aviation in 1972. In 1970 she won the world championship in aerobatics in the piston aircraft category. She has set three world records in team sport parachuting from the stratosphere and nine world records for pilotage in jet airplanes. Savitskaia has been awarded a gold medal and 14 diplomas by the International Aeronautical Federation and 12 gold medals by the USSR. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
