Sawyer, Diane

Sawyer, Diane (1945–  ) journalist, television correspondent/anchor; born in Glasgow, Ky. (married to Mike Nichols). Hired as ABC WLKY-TV's weathergirl in 1967, she then became a reporter in Louisville, Ky. Coming to Washington as a Nixon press aide in 1970, she stayed on after Watergate to help with Nixon's memoirs. A CBS news reporter (1978–81), she cohosted the Morning News with Charles Kuralt (1981–84), then became the first woman correspondent on 60 Minutes (1984–89). In 1989 she left to coanchor ABC's Primetime Live.
