Schafer, Roy

Schafer, Roy (1922–  ) psychologist; born in the Bronx, N.Y. Trained at the Menninger Foundation and Austen Riggs Center, he was a staff psychologist for Yale's health service (1961–76) and professor of psychiatry at Cornell University Medical College (1976–79). He established a private practice in New York City (1979). His early work focused on psychological testing; later he wrote on psychoanalysis and psychotherapy in works including Aspects of Internalization (1968) and A New Language for Psychoanalysis (1976).
