Schindler, R. M.

Schindler, R. M. (Rudolph Michael) (1887–1953) architect; born in Vienna, Austria. He emigrated in 1914 and worked briefly with Frank Lloyd Wright before establishing a Los Angeles practice. He worked outside the architectural mainstream designing small, low-cost houses characterized by their cubist designs and exploration of spatial relationships. He also designed furniture. Schindler House, Los Angeles (1921–22) and Lovell Beach House, Newport Beach, Calif. (1926) are among his designs.
